
The Team Manager is the central hub of information and oversees the flow of communication between players, coaches, and parents as well as support systems such as SDMHA's Board of Directors, Pacific Coast, and BC Hockey. You will be the one who knows the most about what is going on for your team and we hope that between the association’s Board Members, staff and your network of team and division managers, you will have all the information you need or know who to reach out to for the answers.
This resource site will cover several of the tasks that will fall under the team manager but there is more to this role than a check list. The most important part of your role is to be an active part of the overall team staff who are together responsible for creating a safe and fun environment for the players. This includes overseeing things from before the first puck drop until the last jersey has been returned. It will include taking care of logistics but also talking to your parents about how important it is not to yell at the refs and letting the coaches do their job. It may also mean having to help facilitate complaints. The important thing to remember is you are never alone, and you will always have support.
Your support team begins with your division manager. They will be able to help answer questions, provide ideas, and help with resolving any issues that may arise. They will also provide you with your ice times for practices and will supply the game ice to PCAHA for a schedule to be built.

Other team managers are also great resources, especially for new team managers. Hearing from those who have been a manager before can provide some great tips and tricks that will make your life a lot easier. Whether your division manager sets up a chat group or you ask for a contact or two of other managers who would be willing to connect, this can be one of your strongest resources during the season.

All teams that participate in the PCAHA league are required to follow the rules and procedures outlined in the PCAHA rule book and memos/bulletins distributed by BC Hockey. Updated versions are published each season and can be found on the relevant websites.
